Art Deco Coffee Table in Parchment and Mahogany 1940
This elegant coffee table from 1940 presents its personality in its asymmetry, Apollonian contours and in references that mix modernism and clear classical influences. The top of the table corresponds to a rectangle made of light parchment with mineral textures and an exiquisite patina. Its base is made of mahogany wood in an aromatic toasted tone with two support points that meet on the floor by a rectangular area. One of the two legs is a broad round column adorned with two thick extruded rings near the base. The other, a robust strip adorned with parallel straight grooves at the bottom, which exceeds the table surface and becomes a volumetric accent of the piece. The careful treatment of the wood relates the influences of this table to Charles Dudouyt, while the arrangement of the elements in its composition cites authors such as Francisque Chalesin.
