Prometeo Floor Lamp: general view of the lamp

Prometeo Floor Lamp by Aldo Rossi. Ed. Alessi

This floor lamp was designed at the end of the 80s. As all pieces created by Aldo Rossi it remains ageless to this day. Referencing the silhouette of the early 20th century light but using a clean set of lines, this postmodern piece sits on a slender, stepped base made of aluminum and coated in a muted, opaque black enamel. The crown of this lamp is an opal glass sphere that, when lit, resembles both the electric and natural lights of the city at night. Aldo Rossi is an architect and designer, winner of the Pritzker architecture prize. Straight lines make for most of his compositions, always with a strong synthetic sense of urbanity.
