Shagreen Chair by Eyre de Lanux
This exquisite chair was created by the American decorator Elizabeth Eyre de Lanux during the 1920s. Entirely covered in rich, green-toned galuchat, the chair’s clean, simple lines exude an ethereal elegance that defines its timeless beauty. A true rarity and collector’s piece, this chair embodies the Art Deco spirit that Eyre de Lanux became famous for, despite her work remaining relatively confidential to this day. As a prominent figure in Parisian intellectual circles from the age of 24, her designs are now recognized as iconic examples of 20th-century furniture art. Documented in: Eyre de Lanux: An American Decorator in Paris by Louis-Géraud Castor and Willy Huybrechts (Editions Norma, 2015), page 191.
